Hello, and welcome!

We’re glad you’ve found our website, and we invite you to discover what Holy Spirit has to offer.  If your questions about the church are not answered here, please feel free to give us a call at 713.468.7796

If you haven't visited us already, here is some information that may be helpful

What to expect on a Sunday visit
We want your first visit to our Church to be a warm and welcoming experience, so we have tried to think of things that a new-comer might want to know.

What times are the services?
We have three Sunday services:

8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist Rite I. The service consists of formal worship and includes organ music and hymns (with no choir). This service is approximately sixty minutes long.

10:30 a.m. Traditional Holy Eucharist Rite II, in the Nave of the Church. This service uses more contemporary, everyday English. The service consists of formal worship including organ music, hymns and a full choir. Service bulletins follow the Book of Common Prayer and are used along with the hymnal. This service is approximately sixty minutes long.

10:30 a.m. The Contemporary Holy Eucharist with contemporary music and band, in the Parish Hall. The service is projected onto large screens. It is a less formal, come-as-you are atmosphere and approximately sixty minutes long. There is a fully staffed nursery during all services.

What should I expect when I get inside?
As you enter the main doors to the Nave building an usher will hand you a worship leaflet. This booklet contains directions for what to do and page numbers for the Book of Common Prayer (red) and the Hymnal or song book (dark blue). If you aren’t sure, don’t hesitate to ask a fellow worshipper or simply watch and follow others' lead.

For the Contemporary service, a Greeter will hand you an Announcement leaflet.  The prayers, bible readings and songs are projected onto screens at the front of the worship space so there is no printed "order of service" distributed.

Where do I sit?
You can sit anywhere that you feel comfortable. If it's crowded, the ushers will help you find a seat. If you arrive once the service has begun, an usher will be happy to assist you to a seat.

How long will the service last?
The services generally last about an hour.

What if I have children?
Children are welcome at all Sunday services. Childcare for ages 4 and under, and Children's chapel is available during the 10:30 Services with the children being brought into either the Traditional or Contemporary service after the Sermon during the "passing of the peace".

How to take Communion
All baptized Christians are welcome at the Lord’s Table. Come forward to the Altar Rail as the ushers direct you and take the next available place. You may kneel or stand. Receive the communion bread from the priest in your open right palm. You may choose to receive the wine directly from the chalice by gently guiding it to your lips as the Chalice Bearer presents it to you, or you may “intinct,” or dip, the wafer into the wine. If you choose not to receive the wine, simply cross your arms across your chest after you have received the wafer. You may then return to your pew following those around you. If it is physically difficult for you to come to the altar rail, please indicate this to an usher and a priest will bring communion to you where you are seated.

Christian Education & Fellowship
Adult and Children's Sunday School classes take place from 9:15 - 10:15,  between the 8:00 and 10:30 services.  Most clases meet in the Winter's Activity Center.

Join us for coffee, snacks, and fellowship after worship services.  Fellowships is normally in the Parish Hall, unless a special event is planned for the day.
