Walking the Labyrinth

A Metaphor for Life

Holy Spirit's Labyrinth was created by John Sorensen in 2011 as part of his Eagle Scout project.  Walking a labyrinth is a time-honored spiritual practice for Christians, and now we have the opportunity to engage this practice here!  Labyrinths are a metaphor for life, for the often circuitous and unsettled ways that we walk through life, never knowing which choices will lead where, and when we encounter dead ends, turning around and moving in a new direction.

Labyrinths always end in the center, a symbol of God's presence in the center of creation and in the center of our lives.  The goal of walking a labyrinth is learning to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Some labyrinths are so huge that becoming lost in them is a legitimate risk!  Ours is slighly more humble.  Come and check out the new labyrinth in our east courtyard, between the Nave and the church offices.
