Infants & Toddlers - Ground Work

In our Baptismal Covenant we promise to proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ, to seek and serve Christ in all persons and to respect the dignity of every human being. And so, the Nursery seeks to be a place where everyone involved (children, parents, and child care providers) are all encouraged and enabled to grow into the full stature of Christ.  The primary spiritual needs of young children can be met in the nursery by providing the following ingredients: unconditional love, trustworthy child care providers, and as the children become older, discipline which holds them accountable for their actions within the limits of their abilities. Co-Supervisors, Kristin MacDonald and Elizabeth Cuevas  manage our church nursery with incredible gifts and talents! The Director of Children and Family Ministries  along with the Nursery Staff assists in overseeing the facilities, developing policies and programs, strict  compliance with the Diocesan program Safeguarding God’s Children, and ensuring that with God’s help, our ministry can be the best it can be.

  • The Nursery provides child care on Sunday mornings for children from 6 weeks to age 4.

  • Child care is available during Sunday services, and other times as requested.

  • Our goal for the Nursery is to meet the spiritual, social, emotional and physical needs of children at their developmental levels.

  • During services, the children are given a pre-approved snack. Please inform the Nursery Staff of any allergies your child might have.

  • A weekly scripture lesson and craft are offered corresponding to different developmental levels, as well as music and movement.

Location

The Nursery is conveniently located down (south) the covered walk way from both the Traditional and Contemporary worship spaces in the 100 wing.

Registration

All children to be left in the Nursery must have a registration card completed by their primary caregiver.  Each Sunday, please remember to sign your child in and let us know which service you will be attending in the even your child needs you.  Labels are provided for the child, the diaper bag, and cup/bottles.   Please use the blank labels to identify any toys or stuffed animals.  Also helpful to the Nursery Staff—a complete change of clothes for your child in case of spills. Regular attendance helps your child to feel comfortable and at home in the nursery.  The Nursery Staff encourages you to take your baptized children to Holy Communion and then either keep them with you or return them to the nursery—as you wish.

Communication

All children in the Nursery will receive each Sunday a Morning Report Card informing parents about the child’s eating, drinking, (sleeping when applicable) and diapering/potty attempts while in the nursery.  If you ever have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call our Director of Children’s Ministries, KariAnn Lessner @ 713.468.7796 x 201.
