Fellowship Ministries

Open Door Ministry

Holy Spirit is an open, caring, and welcoming community by nature. The Open Door ministry members extend these values to visitors by greeting them before services and by shepherding new members through their first months at the church, including introducing newcomers to the church, its members, and its ministries. more....

Saints and Sinners

Saints and Sinners Group is a great way to get to know other members of Holy Spirit. Members are divided into groups of eight who meet once a month for dinner, brunch or whatever the group decides. Groups are organized twice a year, in October and again in February.

Pairs & Spares

Pairs and Spares currently has 32 members. We meet September through May for fellowship and to play bridge. In September we ask for a donation of ten dollars and in May we decide where the money will be spent. Our year begins with a pot luck in the Parish Hall and ends with a pot luck in the Parish Hall.

Ladies Night Out

LADIES NIGHT OUT welcomes all women to the group. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know other women at Holy Spirit. We mainly go out for dinner, attend plays, and have a good time.

Senior Lunch Out

This is a group for those who have not outgrown childish pursuits. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Fridays for lunch at a wide selection of restaurants. We also make use of Harris County buses for occasional trips (sorry, you must be over 55 for this). For example, this past year we went to Palestine to ride the Texas State Railroad during the Dogwood Festival; our Director of Music, Steve Morris, conducted a tour of church organs in Houston and demonstrated their differences; we had a delightful visit to the State Zoo in Victoria, and ate in the oldest deli in Texas; we closed the year with a "Y'all bring some grub" Christmas party at a private home, followed by (a week later) a bus trip to the George Bush Library and Santa's Wonderland, both in College Station. We missed this year, but we try to make an Astros game on Episcopal Night, or a Rockets game, again using County transport.

Breakfast Club

The Holy Spirit Breakfast Club provides breakfast, fellowship and a speaker for interested men and women of the parish and their guests. We meet on the third Thursday of the month, September through May. Our average attendance has steadily increased, thanks to the efforts of the Program Committee, three excellent cook teams, and telephone callers. Breakfasts begin at 7:00 a.m. and end at 8:00 a.m.
