We will use Tom Wright's book, Acts for Everyone, Part One and then continue with Part Two. This is a fabulous study of the growth and spread of the early church. Great reading and great discussion is promised. Wendy Mixon will purchase books. Please let her know (713-984-1033) if you can join us so we have enough books.
New Adult Christian Education Offering to begin on January 10th
Barack Obama, Meryl Streep, Peyton Manning, Ben Bernanke. These and other names pop into our minds when we think about great and powerful people. Talent, power, money, beauty, these are the standards the world uses to evaluate success and greatness.
But what if God looks at human life and achievement differently than we do? Did Jesus not say, "Whoever wants to be great among you must become your servant..."?
On January 10, a new course entitled "Improving Your Serve", led by the Rev. Bob Henson will begin. This course will explore God's understanding of human greatness and what our response to that might be. We will discover that serving is a means of experiencing the abundant life that Jesus promised and we will consider practical ways to use our gifts and talents in the service of God.
The course will be at 9:30AM in Room 503 of the Winters Building.
Holy Spirit Inquirer and Confirmation Classes, January 10th- February 21st
Beginning at 9:30 each Sunday, Fr. David Puckett will lead the adult class in Room 104, directly across from the church nursery, and the youth will meet in the Youth Room with Sarah Taylor and Laura Konitzer.
Please call the church office (713-468-7796) to register for either of the classes.
Bishop Dena Harrison will be here on Sunday February 28th for confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation
