WESTSIDE HOMELESS PARTNERSHIP – It’s time for Summer Camp: Go ahead, get excited!
Our friends at the Westside Homeless Partnership are trying to send 18 young people to camp this summer and they are looking for our help. Camp Allen has granted scholarships to cover registration costs, but WHP needs our help to outfit the kids for summer camp.
The experience these young people will gain in team building, confidence building and sharing in the life of Christ’s love will help them succeed in life and break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Please help send these kids to one of the most memorable experiences of their lives.
During the month of June you may help by writing “WHP Summer Camp” in the memo section of your check and placing it in the collection plate or by visiting them online at http://www.westsidehomeless.org/ You may also look for Claire Martin during Fellowship if you have questions.
Mentors Needed Memorial Assistance Ministries needs 40 to 50 new volunteers to serve as one-on-one Mentors for certain Employment Services clients. Qualifications are maturity, professionalism and a desire to positively impact the life of another human being.
The Mentoring you provide will be on the topic of finding and keeping a job. You will not be asked to provide the client with job leads or access to your personal network, although at your discretion you may provide such help. Primary emphasis will be on accountability to objectives set for their job search, and emphasis on skills learned in the Employment Certification program at MAM.
Time commitment required is one facetoface meeting per month with the client, plus weekly telephone contact. You will also be asked to report back to MAM staff once per month. A onetime training session lasting about 90 minutes will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month, at MAM’s offices at 1625 Blalock (just north of Long Point).
If interested, please contact Bob King, Associate Director of Employment Services, 713-574-7542, or bking@maministries.org

They are working hand in hand with the Episcopal Diocese of both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Please continue to be generous to our Anglican brothers and sisters as they recover from this tragedy. You may learn more by visiting http://www.er-d.org/ and http://www.epicenter.org/.
