Our History
Holy Spirit is an Episcopal Church in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas and is part of the Anglican Communion.
We were first organized by Bishop Hines as a Mission on September 14, 1958, and the first service was held at Bunker Hill Elementary School on October 19, 1958.
- In 1960, the Rev. Hubert C. Palmer was called to become Holy Spirit's Priest in Charge and thereafter served as Rector until 1986.
- In 1961, Holy Spirit became a self-supporting parish and experienced rapid growth. It built and began worshiping in its first building in 1962.
- In 1968, the current Nave was added and the original Nave became the Parish Hall.
- In 1987, the Rev. Melvin Gray was called as Holy Spirit's second Rector serving through 2000.
- The Rev. David F.K. Puckett, our present Rector, was called to Holy Spirit in 2002.
